CBD oil for menopause, what is this really about?
At the moment, there is still no concrete and fool-proof evidence that CBD can help treat symptoms of menopause.
But the good news is, there are now countless of anecdotal evidences of women who are in their menopausal stage saying that taking CBD helped them alleviate many of the symptoms of menopause.
There are different ways to take CBD. And two of the most common ways are by using a CBD vape pen and by ingesting CBD in the form of gummies or other edibles for a longer lasting effect.
Menopause is the process through which a woman ceases to be fertile or menstruate. It is not a disease or an abnormal condition, but a normal part of life that all women will go through in their lives.
In the United States, the average age for menopause is 51 years.
There are three stages of menopause. Perimenopause (estrogen production in the female body slows), menopause (woman has not menstruated in over a year), and post-menopause (menopause has officially ended).
Women who are having symptoms of menopause can also self-manage without the use of medical intervention.
Exercising during menopause and maintaining a healthful diet is the best way in managing the bodily effects of menopause. Other ways to self-manage menopause include:
– avoid using tight clothing
– limit consumption of spicy food, caffeine intake, and alcohol intake
– stay sexually active to reduce vaginal dryness
– get plenty of rest
– keep stress level to a minimum
– minimize night sweats by maintaining comfortable bedroom temperature
– regulate sleep cycle
Symptoms of menopause include:
– night sweats
– hot flashes
– mood fluctuations
– cognitive changes
– irregular periods
– lower fertility
– vaginal dryness
– disturbed sleep
– urinary problems
Here’s what studies are saying.
Of the different symptoms of menopause, one of the most common is mood fluctuations.
In 2010, a study on mice found that CBD operates in similar way to antidepressant medications in the brain which can help stabilize mood in humans as well as reduce symptoms of depression.
In a case study that was conducted in 2016 on a person with PSTD or post traumatic stress disorder, it showed that CBD was able to help reduce sleep disturbances as well as anxiety. Because of this, CBD may also be possible in treating sleep disturbances relating to menopause.
In another research that was published in the Molecular Pharmacology, it was also found out that CBD interacts with the body’s cannabinoid receptor that play a role in bone density loss. And because of this, it was concluded that taking CBD may be able to help reduce the rate of bone density loss that happens during a woman’s menopausal stage.
Remember that CBD oil is not yet proven in any way or another that it can treat or help in the symptoms of menopause. In fact, research regarding the effectiveness of CBD oil for menopause is still in its infancy stage. But even if that’s the case, the early results on some of the studies that have already been conducted are all promising. So, for women who believe that they are already experiencing symptoms of menopause, using CBD can be a great alternative in managing the symptoms. However, even if you’re not going to take CBD oil for menopause, there are other reasons to make cannabidiol a part of your daily routine. CBD is already known to reduce anxiety and stress and to help improve sleep. You’re at a time in your life where being relaxed and happy can greatly affect your well-being. So choose to have a more positive outlook in life and taking CBD oil can be beneficial in this aspect.
Just remember that before you start using CBD, you should do a little bit of research first on what CBD or cannabidiol is all about.
